VTsIOM: Voter turnout to be up to 76 percent
76 percent of 1,624 people surveyed by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion, or VTsIOM said they would go to polls on February 18, head of VTsIOM, Valery Fedorov, told reporters in Yerevan.
“Two-third of the respondents (64 percent) is discontent with the situation in the country, while 57 percent said the situation worsened.
Respondents say unemployment is the most important problem in Armenia, followed by the problem of low salaries,” he said.
Valery Fedorov said that 56 percent of the respondents positively assess the activities of President Serzh Sargsyan. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Armenian government received more negative than positive assessments: 42 percent of respondents have a positive view of Tigran Sargsyan, 37 percent of Armenian government. Most respondents have a positive view of Yerevan Mayor (67 percent) and local authorities (71 percent).
Summing up the results, Fedorov expressed an opinion that 65 percent of eligible voters would turn out.
The survey was conducted in the territory of Armenia between 25 and 29 January 2013.
