Survey: If elections are fair, Serzh Sargsyan will win
61 percent of 1,624 people surveyed by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM) said they would vote for incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, 27 percent for Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian. All seven candidates, except Serzh Sargsyan, altogether score only 40 percent of the votes, head of VTsIOM, Valery Fedorov, told a news conference in Yerevan.
According to the survey, Serzh Sargsyan is the most popular candidate (99 percent), followed by Raffi Hovannisian and Paruyr Hayrikyan (97 percent), Hrant Bagratyan (86 percent), Aram Harutyunyan (66 percent), Andrias Ghukasyan (44 percent), Arman Melikyan (43 percent) and Vardan Sedrakyan (42 percent).
Most respondents (86 percent) said they were confident of their choice. 94 percent of Serzh Sargsyan’s electorate said they were confident of their determination to vote for the incumbent president.
47 percent of the respondents expect Serzh Sargsyan to win if the elections are fair, 28 percent say Raffi Hovannisian will win, while over 3 percent mention the remaining candidates.
