Hayrikyan’s health deteriorates; election postponement possible
Presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan remains in hospital. The candidate’s health deteriorates, coordinator of Hayrikyan’s election headquarters Manya Ayvazyan told Panorama.am.
When asked whether the candidate may apply to the Constitutional Court for postponing the elections, Mrs Ayvazyan said, “Hayrikyan’s lawyer said in his statement that they were not applying to the Constitutional Court at that moment. I do not rule out anything, but I cannot say for sure whether or not we will apply for postponing the elections.”
Presidential candidate, chairman of National Self-Determination Union Paruyr Hayrikyan was shot and wounded by unknown gunmen in Yerevan at 23:30 local time on January 31. He was taken to Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, where he underwent surgery on February 1. A criminal case was opened in connection with the incident.
