Aram Manukyan approves idea of ANC becoming party
The fact of Armenian National Congress (ANC) becoming a party does not oblige Armenian National Movement to dissolve. The law on parties mentions many other possibilities, ANC parliamentary faction secretary Aram Manukyan told reporters in parliament, commenting on Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s interview.
In his today’s interview, Levon Ter-Petrosyan said that the idea of turning ANC from a bloc into a party was being discussed within ANC.
According to Manukyan, Armenian National Movement will announce its position on this issue “in a very short time.”
As for discussions within ANC, Manukyan said he had not participated in them.
Under the circumstances, it is adequate to create a new format, according to him.
“I think this step is right. It was nothing new for me and I absolutely approve it. Opposition has to change its format following the elections,” Manukyan stressed.
When asked who is expected to be the leader of the newly formed party, he said he could say nothing about it.
“I would propose the candidacy of Levon Ter-Petrosyan,” Manukyan added.
