Alexander Iskandaryan says protests typical of presidential elections in Armenia
Armenia’s foreign policy is not determined by individuals. I think every president in Armenia would carry out the same foreign policy, political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan said during Yerevan-Moscow space bridge.
Armenia’s foreign policy is determined by its geographical position, with Russia’s role in the region being irreplaceable for Armenia, he said.
We can also say that Armenia’s role in the Caucasus is irreplaceable for Russia, Iskandaryan added.
Commenting on the domestic political situation in the country, Iskandaryan said that protests are typical of presidential elections in Armenia, particularly when an incumbent president runs for a second term.
“A wave of protest has risen in the country. Raffi has united the protest electorate, but that electorate is not absolutely his,” Iskandaryan said.
“However, the future prospects are clearly visible: in the coming five years, Armenia will seek to expand its relations with Russia, Europe and Iran,” the expert concluded.
