In Azerbaijan rapper is arrested because of video about traffic police; Police demands to remove video from Youtube
Sayid Aliyev, called also Dado, is arrested for 10 days in Azerbaijan, on charges of disobeying police. According to the Azerbaijani news agency "Turan" the rapper’s brother Ali, was summoned to the traffic police of Nasimi district of Baku on February 27 for examination of his car in connection with some road accident. After the examination to the rapper was told that his car was not involved in the accident, but he needs to go to the police department for presentation of test results in a written form.
“When Sayid went into building a person in civilian clothes pushed his shoulder roughly. Dado thought someone was joking with him. However, the man accused Sayid of rudeness. He was immediately arrested by several people put him into a car and drove him away,” rapper’s brother said.
His relatives were not reported about the detention. Later they learned that Dado was taken to 21th Nasimi district police station and then to the court, where he was arrested for 10 days.
Later, he phoned his brother and told him to take away from the social network «Youtube» his clip “YPX” about the Azerbaijani traffic police, otherwise a criminal investigation will be evoked against him after 10 days.
Relatives said it would be appealed, besides that the family will complain to President Ilham Aliyev, the Prosecutor General and the head of the Interior Ministry. As for the video, Ali Aliyev said that the video has already been spread on the internet and it will be difficult to take away.
“On the other hand, why should we remove the video. It is the freedom of creative working. If there was something illegal, Dado would be charged formally, " A. Aliev said and added that the rapper was judged and interrogated without a lawyer.
The agency notes that the video contains criticism over the bribery of traffic police in Azerbaijan, which often violates by traffic rules itself. Advocacy campaign coordinator “Art for Democracy” Rasul Jafarov also condemned the arrest of the rapper Dado and regarded it as a violation of freedom of creativity and self-expression.
