Serzh Sargsyan meets Simon Fraser
President Serzh Sargsyan met on Monday, March 11, with Permanent Under-Secretary in the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office Simon Fraser.
The President of Armenia welcomed the high guest and assessed his visit to Armenia as a good opportunity to discuss the agenda of the Armenian-British relations and prospects of their development. Serzh Sargsyan underscored that Armenia is interested in developing the mutually beneficial relations with the United Kingdom in every area.
At the beginning of the meeting, Simon Fraser conveyed to President Sargsyan the congratulatory letter from the Prime Minister of Great Britain David Cameron as well as his personal congratulations.
The parties discussed issues related to the Armenia-UK bilateral relations, process of Armenia’s European integration, and regional issues.
At the request of the Permanent Under-Secretary in the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, President spoke about the business and investment environment in Armenia, already accomplished and current works aimed at the implementation of economic reforms, as well as forthcoming programs of development.
Simon Fraser on behalf of his country’s government assured that the United Kingdom is greatly supportive of the reform processes in Armenia which will continue during the second term of Serzh Sargsyan as well.
Noting that the Armenian-British trade and economic relations have great potential for development, the President of Armenia and the Permanent Under-Secretary in the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office assessed as insufficient the current turnover between Armenia and the United Kingdom and discussed opportunities for the expansion of bilateral economic cooperation, presidential press service reported.
