Vladimir Putin to Serzh Sargsyan: Nearly 60 percent of votes is a good result, it testifies to people’s confidence
Presidents of Armenia and Russia Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin have met at the Russian leader's private residence at Novo-Ogarevo, near Moscow, our correspondent reports.
Welcoming his Armenian counterpart, Vladimir Putin once again congratulated Serzh Sargsyan on his reelection and stressed that nearly 60 percent of votes is a good result, and that it testifies to the people’s confidence and gives a possibility to implement the planned programs.
Referring to Armenian-Russian relations, Vladimir Putin said that Russia remains Armenia’s main trading partner. Bilateral political cooperation develops at various levels and in various areas and there are good preconditions for strengthening the current ties, particularly in the humanitarian field, the Russian President said.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, for his part, said that the results of Armenian-Russian cooperation are exceptional and stressed the importance of military cooperation between Armenia and Russia.
Commenting on economic cooperation, President Sargsyan stressed the necessity of its further expansion, noting that in separate issues, Armenia expects to get support from its strategic partner.
In conclusion, Serzh Sargsyan confirmed his invitation to Russian President to pay a state visit to Armenia.
