Zaman: 100 years ago, Turkey was the ‘sick man of Europe’
Representatives of Turkey’s pro-governmental and opposition parties, U.S. Congressmen and more than 50 political figures were honorary guests at the annual Congress of Turkic-American Union held in Washington on March 14. The Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists supported the organization of the event.
The holding of such event with such attendees confirms the fact that Turkish-American relations are good neighborly and cooperative, Turkish newspaper Zaman reports.
It is noteworthy that Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, addressing the congress, said: “100 years ago, Turkey was the ‘sick man of Europe.’ Turkey is no longer sick now. It even leaves the others behind in struggle.”
