Members of friendship group with NKR in Lithuanian Seimas:Every day we receive many congratulatory letters from around the world
Members of the group of friendship with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in the Seimas of Lithuania shared their impressions with Panorama.am about the plans and purpose of creation of this group.
Member of the Seimas Algis Kaseta noted that he is happy for the creation of this group. "We are pleased that there is another such group created in NKR Parliament. There is a cultural cooperation and I would like to see the people of Nagorno-Karabakh coming to Lithuania, and to have the opportunity to communicate with people of different areas," said Kaseta.
Another member of the group of friendship with the NKR Kestutis Masiulis said that some of the colleagues in the Lithuanian Parliament asked him to think over the suitability of participating in this initiative.
“I remember when we protested against the occupation of Lithuania and there were rallies, we were trying to regain the lost independence and on one of the meetings we admitted a declaration in support of Karabakh. I thought, what has changed within 20 years? Why should we ignore these ideas? We have to be consistent, this is my main motive,” the MP said and hoped that the establishment of such a group will contribute to the peaceful resolution of the protracted Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
In her turn, Dangute Mikutiene, the MP of the Seimas of Lithuania, noted that the establishment of the group with the NKR was announced at the session of the Parliament and it regulates the statute. "We get a lot of emails every day from all over the world from different organizations, who congratulated us in connection with this event. We are pleased that in France was also created such a friendship group and this will be a major step towards the expansion of the circle of such friends," said, Dangute Mikutiene said.
The MP also noted that the group members are familiar with the publications of the Azerbaijani press and the activities of the Azerbaijani ambassador to Lithuania together with the members of Parliament that are included in the group of friendship with Azerbaijan. "They were very "sensitive" towards the fact of establishment of the friendship group with NKR.We told them, “let's be friends”, because the countries should hold conferences, meetings and discussions in order to see the processes moving through democratic and peaceful route," the MP noted.
