Chairman of PACE Monitoring Committee refutes the statement of representative of Azerbaijan
Chairman of PACE Monitoring Committee, Estonian MP Andres Herkel, refuted the statement of Elkhan Suleymanov, who is a member of the Azerbaijani delegation in the Assembly. Suleymanov said as if on March 20, Andres Herkel did not let him complete his presentation at the committee meeting in Paris, which contained criticism on the presidential elections held in Armenia, the article of Azerbaijani information agency Turan says.
Suleymanov stated that he left the room as a token of protest. In his turn, Herkel told the news agency Turan, that he interrupted Suleymanov’s speech not because of the content of his speech, but for keeping close to the schedule.
"2 minutes remained till the end of the meeting and for the translator. Four speakers, including Suleymanov, were left. Suleymanov was first on the list. He spoke for 4 minutes, and I asked him to sum up within 2 minutes, as three other speakers from Latvia, Armenia and Austria were still remaining. He was unable to complete the statement and as a chairperson, I had to stop him. He was not the first colleague, whom I have asked to cut short during the five-hour meeting, where Armenia was represented significantly lesser,” Herkel said.
