Yerevan elections will be tense, says political analyst
The elections of Yerevan Council of Elders will be tense as the key political forces participate in them, political analyst Suren Surenyants told a news conference today.
According to him, with the exception of the Mission party, all of the remaining six political forces (RPA, PAP, “Barev, Yerevan” bloc, ANC, ARFD and OYP) have chances to be represented in Yerevan Council of Elders. He added that the main struggle will be between RPA, PAP and “Barev, Yerevan” bloc.
“There are two intrigues in Yerevan elections: will a Republican or a representative of the opposition be elected Yerevan Mayor, and whom do the 500,000 votes belong to: Gagik Tsarukyan or Raffi Hovannisian? So, besides the struggle for Mayor, there will be struggle between Raffi Hovannisian’s and Gagik Tsarukyan’s teams for being the leading opposition force in the coming years,” Surenyants said.
