Khosrov Harutyunyan: Raffi Hovannisian’s action would have greater political value if it had not been represented as a fast
It was unexpected to me that as it turned out in the end, Raffi Hovannisian had tried to take the chance and was fasting during Great Lent. At first his hunger strike was viewed as a political action but in the end the action proved to be non-political, member of RPA parliamentary faction Khosrov Harutyunyan told reporters in Yerevan.
According to him, Raffi Hovannisian’s action would have greater political value if it had not been represented as a fast.
Referring to Raffi Hovannisian’s regional tour, the Republican MP said it was normal. “The opposition continues its political activities, involving not only residents of Yerevan but also the regional population.”
In this way, the opposition tries to secure its goals, Harutyunyan said.
Former presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian Hovannisian disagrees with the results of the February 18 presidential elections in Armenia and has been leading mass protest actions. Hovannisian was on hunger strike at Liberty Square of Yerevan from March 10 to March 31.
Raffi Hovannisian’s headquarters reported last week that on April 1, Hovannisian will launch a four-day regional tour, for what he called a “national enlistment campaign,” during which he will recruit a citizens’ army for the liberation of the New Armenia.
