Yerevan hosts forum of Armenian and Turkish businesswomen
A two-day forum of Armenian and Turkish businesswomen has kicked off in Yerevan.
The forum is organized by the USAID-funded Enterprise Development and Market Competitiveness (EDMC) Project and the Women’s Forum NGO.
“The foundations for cooperation between Armenian and Turkish women were laid in Istanbul several years ago,” head of Women’s Forum NGO Lilit Avetisyan said in her remarks. She added that Women’s Forum and Turkey’s Dokunkad Association have signed a memorandum of cooperation, which is aimed not only at establishment of business ties but also at improvement of the relations between the two countries.
Nevin Il, President of Eastern and South-Eastern Business Women Dokunkad Association, said that the closed borders are a serious obstacle for cooperation with Armenia.
“We should heal our wounds and begin to develop relationship with each other. It is a social responsibility. We are responsible towards our children. Trading recognizes no language, border or country. Armenia is a very important country for us,” Nevin Il said in her remarks.
The forum will continue tomorrow.
