Yerevan hosts Network Meeting of CIS Administrations of Railway Traffic Management
The Network Meeting of the CIS Administrations of Railway Traffic Management started in Yerevan on April 9.
The opening ceremony started with welcoming remarks by the First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication of Armenia Hrant Beglaryan, Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan, CEO of SCR Victor Rebets and the Chairman of the Directorate of the Council for Rail Transport of CIS, Georgia and the Baltic countries Peter Kucherenko.
According to the head of CJSC SCR Victor Rebets, during the meeting the participants were to discuss a number of complex technical and organizational issues, the schedule of the trains, the development of coordinated actions and positions on various aspects.
Speaking on the activities of SCR, Victor Rebets emphasized that the priority of the railroad was the strengthening and development of infrastructure to ensure 100% security guarantee of transportation of passengers and cargo. He added that work on the modernization of the trains was on and the formation of SCR’s own base for repair and maintenance of rolling stock was completing soon.
The chairman of the Directorate of the Council for Rail Transport of CIS, Georgia and Baltic courtiers Peter Kucherenko, for his part, said that the meeting will discuss issues of cooperation through the reforms that were going on inside the railroads of participating countries. Accordingly, Peter Kucherenko noted the positive progress in the development of railways in Armenia with the functioning of SCR in the Republic. During its activity in Armenia SCR significantly increased the level of traffic safety for passengers on international and domestic flights and created a more comfortable environment.
According to him, SCR possesses many structural departments that are not available to many other railroads, such as the Center for Road Infrastructure Diagnostics.
The meeting brought together representatives of railway transport administrations from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Estonia.
The meeting will finish on April 10.
