Azerbaijani peasants threw eggs at district-head for the call to vote for Ilham Aliyev in October elections
Residents of the largest village Beyuk Behmenli, which is in Fizuli district controlled by Azerbaijan, kicked Ali Alyev, chief executive of the district, off by throwing eggs over him.
As the Azerbaijani news agency "Haqqin.az" reorts, according to the site, Aliyev came to the village to meet the residents. Describing the socio-political situation in Azerbaijan, he informed the residents that they should vote for the candidate of the ruling party during the presidential election.
"He noted that they will undertake steps for eliminating social problems. In response to this, the villagers accused the head of the district in a lie, as far as he had given such a promises at previous meetings as well. Positive changes however had not occurred," the article reads.
According to the news agency, the residents sated that they will not go for presidential elections. "After this the situation in the village got tensed, and the residents, threw the officials out of the village by throwing eggs over them. Head of the district withdrew quickly together with his escort," writes "Haqqin.az."
Recently the discontent with the Azerbaijani authorities grows. Earlier this week, more than 300 people gathered in the Gedabak area demanding compensation payments in connection with a fire that had occurred in central market area. In Sabirabad and Imishlinkom areas the situation is tensed too.
Last Friday, in various regions of Azerbaijan several protests were held. Thus, in Baku, as well as in its suburbs Mashtagha and Nardaranproshli protests were held demanding the release of the theologian Taleh Bagirzade. In Beylagan region residents of several villages blocked the roads protesting against unlawful taking of their lands for the benefit of the local officials, after that the arrests of the protesters started. In the south of Azerbaijan, in Masalli region the police broke into the houses and took away 12 participants of recently held protests to an unknown direction. On the same day in the city of Gabala police broke up a protest held by employees of Aztrans company, 16 people were arrested.
In March 2012 and in January 2013 the mass riots were held in Guba and Ismayilli regions of Azerbaijan. The riots were caused due to the abusive conduct of the Azerbaijani officials. Internal troops and riot police entered the regions. Some were injured during the clashes.
