Gevorg Danielyan: Legal acts should be key issue in Armenian Genocide recognition process
When talking about the Armenian Genocide, we usually present documents, historical facts, opinions of scholars, while not historical facts, but rather legal acts should be a key issue in the Armenian Genocide recognition process. No document can be as much valuable as a legal act, Gevorg Danielyan, Doctor of Law, Professor, advisor at Armenia's Constitutional Court, Board Chairman of the Center of the Constitutional Law, told a news conference on Monday, meaning the legal procedures and legal acts adopted by the Young Turks in 1919-21.
According to him, Turkey does everything possible so that the legal acts adopted by it do not become a subject of discussion. Turkey insists that Turkish courts adopted the legal acts under the international pressure, but it should not matter for us, said the lawyer.
He thanked the historians for their work, meanwhile adding that the Armenian Genocide recognition process should be transferred to the legal field.
