Facebook campaigning cannot lead to any result, says information security expert
In Armenia, 400,000 people are Facebook users. There are 50,000-80,000 users with fake accounts. So we can say that one-third of Armenian population are Facebook users, information security expert Tigran Kocharyan told a news conference on Saturday.
Of all Facebook users, about 150,000-200,000 are interested in politics. According to the expert, Facebook campaigning cannot lead to any result.
Kocharyan noted that Republican Party of Armenia and Heritage actively campaign on Facebook on the threshold of municipal elections. Orinats Yerkir Party, Prosperous Armenia Party and Armenian National Congress are also active. ARFD’s campaigning is mainly carried out by the party’s supporters. Prosperous Armenia Party and Armenian National Congress mainly campaign against Heritage and RPA, the expert said.
Kocharyan added that Facebook does not represent the opinion of the Armenian population. According to him, those who are not Facebook users have a different opinion, which means that “Facebook results should not be considered as final.”
