Alekhine Memorial Round 1: Levon Aronian loses to Ding Liren
The Alekhine Memorial started with an amazing first round in many ways. At least a thousand spectators visited the tournament hall on Sunday and saw World Champion Vishy Anand losing with the white pieces to Michael Adams and world's number three Levon Aronian lose to the Chinese participant, Ding Liren. World number two Vladimir Kramnik started with a fine win against his compatriot Nikita Vitiugov. Two games ended in a draw: the one between Candidates Peter Svidler and Boris Gelfand, and the one between the two French players, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Laurent Fressinet, Chessvibes reported.
