According to the representative of the United Kingdom, it is important to ensure peaceful assembly, termination of pressure on human rights activists and journalists in an election year. "The representative of the United States expressed concern about the arrest of journalists, calling to set the media workers and activists free, to allow rallies in the center of the city, to remove obstacles to the activities of NGOs," said the agency.
According to the Azerbaijani news portal "Haqqin.az", the representatives of Germany, Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Belgium, Cyprus, Canada, Chile, Ireland, expressed their concern about existing situation about the democratic freedoms, including the rights to freedom of speech and expression. "Armenia, the United States, United Kingdom, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden have also called on the government to guarantee the work of the journalists and to implement reforms that could ensure free political activity in the country", the portal reports.
According to "Turan", 83 States have put forward their recommendations in connection with the report to the Government of Azerbaijan. The government should admit or reject the recommendations within 6 months. The agency notes that the UN Council on Human Rights, the local and international human rights activists have submitted an alternative report on the situation in Azerbaijan.
