Turkish officials who did not prevent Hrant Dink’s assassination get promotion
Turkish officials involved in the assassination of editor-in-chief of Istanbul-based Agos daily Hrant Dink have been promoted in the years following his killing, Ermenihaber.am news website reports, citing Turkish sources.
For instance, Engin Dinc, who was involved in employing Hrant Dink murder suspect as an intelligence provider, was promoted to the head of the police intelligence, according to sources. Dinc was responsible for employing Erhan Tuncel, the suspected inciter of the murder, during his time in Trabzon Police Department.

Former Governor of Istanbul Muammer Guler has been promoted to the Interior Minister. Former Istanbul Police Chief Celalettin Cerrah has been promoted to the Governor of Osmaniye Province. Trabzon Police Chief Ramazan Akyürek has been appointed head of the Inspection Board in the Police Department Headquarters in Ankara. Mehmet Nihat Omeroglu, who said that he gave the order to kill Dink, has been appointed the first ombudsman of Turkey.
