APA news agency misrepresents Iranian presidential candidate’s remarks
The Azerbaijani media again misrepresent remarks of Iranian officials. APA news agency has distorted the remarks of Iranian presidential candidate, former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, ascribing Azerbaijan’s false allegations on the Karabakh issue to Mottaki: “We condemn the occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territories by Armenia. Iran has joined UN Security Council’s resolutions condemning Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan.”
Indeed, the Persian-language source mentioned by APA notes that during a meeting in Maragheh, the former Iranian Foreign Minister remarked on Iran’s friendly attitude to Armenia as well as on the Karabakh issue, “We are against any kind of aggression. The Azerbaijani people themselves should also solve this conflict. Iran set up camps in Ardabil during the war.”
So we see that Mottaki did not mention Armenia’s name in his remarks.
We should mention that earlier, Azerbaijani news agency Trend misrepresented the remarks of Iranian President’s advisor, head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization Mohammad Bagher Khoramshad.
