Iranian MFA: Two Azerbaijani citizens arrested for illegal actions
The two Azerbaijani citizens were arrested in Iran for illegal actions, the website of the Iranian Foreign Ministry reports.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the two Azerbaijani citizens arrived in Iran as tourists, and were arrested for taking illegal actions and establishing dubious contacts. An investigation is underway.
Earlier, we reported that on April 30, Iranian security forces arrested six people in Tabriz, two of which were Azerbaijani citizens, researcher of the Nizami Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Khalede Khaled and her assistant.
Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Tabriz demands an explanation from the Iranian Foreign Ministry over the arrests of the two Azerbaijani citizens.
