Oskanian, Arsenyan and Manukyan to renounce Council of Elders seats
Member of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Vartan Oskanian, the party’s top candidate for Yerevan municipal elections, gave an interview to Azatutyun Radio in which he expressed a doubt that the May 5 elections were fair.
“How shall I explain that ARFD, Orinats Yerkir and Armenian National Congress have not entered the Council of Elders? Maybe they have entered it, we don’t know. How shall I know if this result is good or bad?” Oskanian said.
According to the source, although Prosperous Armenia has not yet decided whether or not to accept the mandates for the Council of Elders, it is clear that the top three candidates in the party’s list, Vartan Oskanian, Gurgen Arsenyan and Abraham Manukyan, will renounce their seats in Yerevan Council of Elders.
Oskanian thinks it would be wrong to renounce all 17 mandates.
“Certainly, from political point of view we might think that we should not accept them but taking into consideration the interests of the people, we might think that being here, we can keep these problems in the focus of attention, put pressure on the majority and communicate with the people,” Oskanian said.
