Political analyst: Resolution of Syrian crisis to some extent depends on Iranian presidential elections
A dynamic balance has been created in Syria – the West failed to topple Assad regime while Assad fails to defeat the rebels, director of Noravank Foundation Gagik Harutyunyan told today’s news conference.
According to the speaker, the situation in Syria is critical and both Israel and Turkey try to change the situation. The political analyst believes that the May 10 blasts near the Syrian border are directly linked to the Syrian crisis and Israel’s attack on Syria is the bright evidence of this.
The situation does not change despite the fact that Russia and China as well as Iran, in the most realistic way, support Assad, Harutyunyan said. Besides, only 5-10 percent of Syrian “rebels” are citizens of Syria. According to the analyst, the resolution of the Syrian crisis to some extent depends on the Iranian presidential elections.
“Some political accents to Israel and U.S. can change,” he said.
The speaker added that the Syrian war is also a fight between secular and radical Islam involving all players of the Islamic world.
