Political analyst: Rise in gas price should not be viewed as an attempt by Moscow to punish Yerevan
We should not expect any perspective developments in the foreign arena, political analyst, director of the Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan told today’s news conference.
According to him, currently there are two processes: dynamic relations with Russia in parallel with the worsening of relations with Azerbaijan and renewal of relations with Europe, in particular, within the framework of the Association Agreement.
“These are serious achievements, and the path chosen by Armenia has so far been efficient,” Iskandaryan said.
Speaking of the rise in gas price and the opinions that it is connected with Armenia’s membership to the Eurasian Union, the analyst said that we should not view this issue narrowly.
“We should not think that Armenia is an exception for Russia in this respect, especially as the gas sector is controlled by Chubais. We should note that Armenia and Russia expand military-political ties. So, the rise in gas price should not be viewed as an attempt by Moscow to punish Yerevan,” the expert concluded.
