Today is International Museum Day: Entrance to all Armenian museums is free today
Every year since 1977 International Museum Day is organized worldwide around May 18.
This day is an occasion to raise awareness on how important museums are in the development of society.
The Museum Night action is held the following Saturday after the International Museum Day. This year these days coincide. 88 Armenian museums participate in the Museum Night this year.
Berlin hosted the first Museum Night in 1997. The concept has been very well received, and since then the number of participating institutions and exhibitions has risen dramatically, spreading to over 120 other cities throughout Europe, as well as elsewhere. Museum Night is sponsored by UNESCO.
