Milan fans say 'no thanks to Seedorf'
A group of AC Milan fans were caught hanging up a banner outside the club's headquarters early on Friday to express their opposition to the prospect of former player Clarence Seedorf taking over the team. Milan and coach Massimiliano Allegri are reportedly close to parting company and Seedorf is favourite to be put in charge of the seven-time European champions if the boss departs, Gazzetta del Sud reports.
However, many fans are unhappy at the prospect of the team being in the hands of a novice coach like Seedorf, who is currently playing for Brazilian side Botafogo after leaving Milan last year and does yet have his coaching badge. About a dozen fans were caught by police after hanging up a banner reading "Seedorf no thanks" at around 1:30 local time Friday.
Earlier this week the hardcore ultra Milan fans who stand in the Curva Sud (South End) of the San Siro Stadium said they wanted Allegri to remain in charge of the project of returning Milan to greatness with a squad of promising young players.
