Roland Kobia: EU expects an open and transparent election campaign during upcoming elections in Azerbaijan
"The European Union expects an open and transparent election campaign in the run-up to the presidential elections in Azerbaijan,” said head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Roland Kobia.
As the Azerbaijani information agency APA reports the Ambassador said the EU is ready to support Azerbaijan in this regard: “We are ready to send election observation mission and use all the resources to monitor the elections.”
Kobia added that he had received positive messages from the government regarding the invitation of observers from the EU countries.
Commenting on his attitude towards the establishment of the National Council by opposition in Azerbaijan, the diplomat stated that it is normal and natural for parties to be active in the election year.
