Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will become Saeed Jalili’s first deputy after presidential elections?
Saeed Jalili is committed to appointing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad his first deputy in case he wins the presidential elections, says an article published on Entekhab.ir website.
The article says that negotiations are underway between the teams of Iran’s outgoing President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili to appoint Ahmadinejad first deputy of Jalili if Ahmadinejad’s government uses all its levers to help Jalili win the elections.
After Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie, a close aide to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was denied a place on the ballot by the Guardian Council of clerics and jurists, rumors began to circulate in Iranian media that Ahmadinejad supports Jalili. When asked at a recent press conference if he supports Jalili, Ahmadinejad said nothing.
