“The Syrian conflict should be resolved by the participation of Syrian people,” said during his first press conference IRI newly elected President Hassan Rouhani, the Iranian MEHR news agency reported.

To the question what the disposition of the newly elected president is about the Syrian issue, Hassan Rohani answered, “It is the duty of the Syrian people to solve the Syrian conflict. It is the Syrian people who have to make up his final decision. We surely are against the terrorism, and the fact that some countries try to interfere the Syrian crises. We hope that peace and stability will come to Syria due to the countries of the region.”

The newly elected president touched upon the Iran and Persian Gulf states relations and noted, “The primary thing will be establishing good relations with all 15 neighboring countries. As for the Persian Gulf it has a strategic significance for us. Besides being neighbors we are also brothers with the Persian Gulf countries.”
