French envoy: Armenians are the most music-loving nation in the world
World Music Day is celebrated each year on June 21 in over 110 countries and 430 cities around the world. This year the day is dedicated to Edith Piaf, one of the greatest singers of all time, on the occasion of her 50th death anniversary.
It is the sixth year Armenia is celebrating Music Day.
At a meeting with reporters, French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud said that it is natural that Armenia celebrates Music Day because “Armenians are the most music-loving and song-loving nation in the world.”
According to the French envoy, this is one of the common features between the Armenian and French peoples. No one else but Charles Aznavour can better personify love for music among our two peoples, he added.
This year Music Day celebrations will take place in Armenia under the title “Armenians as Musicians.”
Armenian Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelyan, for her part, said that Music Day events will be held in various venues in Yerevan, including Victory Park, as well as in Armenian provinces.
