Most of Armenian villagers cannot even dream of rest
While most of Yerevan residents prepare for summer holidays visiting tourist agencies or in some other way, villagers cannot even dream of rest.
Speaking to Panorama’s correspondent, residents of villages of Ararat province said that neither the employed nor unemployed, neither gardeners nor those who do not have a garden can afford to rest.
“Harvest season is in full swing. During these days, we make our living for a whole year,” Geghetsik, a resident of a village in Artashat region, said. Her family spends the whole day working in the apricot garden.
“We then divide the income of this month according to our needs. First, we pay our debts and save the rest of the money for living until the next summer. We cannot even dream of rest. For us, resting is sitting under trees with friends for some hours,” Geghetsik added.
Ruzanna is leaving for Moscow with her 3 children. The children say they are flying to Moscow for rest, but indeed the family travels to Russia every year to earn for their leaving. “Our rest is to have food, fuel and warm clothes for winter,” Ruzanna said.
