According to ‘‘Global Innovation Index 2013’’Armenia is leading in region
According to the "Global Innovation Index 2013" Armenia is leading in the region. Armenia occupies the 59th place among 142 countries listed in the ranking. Armenia's neighbors in the region are lagging far behind: Georgia is on the 73rd place, and Azerbaijan is on the 105th place. Armenia is ahead of Russia too, which is on the 62nd position, Turkey (the 68th place) and Iran (the 113th place).
Armenia is on the 2nd place among CIS countries after Moldova, which is on the 45th place in the ranking. Other countries of the Commonwealth are disposed as follows: Ukraine is on the 71st place, Belarus on 77th, Kazakhstan on 84th, Tajikistan on 101st and Uzbekistan on 133rd.
The analytical report of "The Global Innovation Index 2013" was compiled jointly with the International business school INSEAD, Cornell University and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
The research has been conducted since 2007; in 2013 the study covers 142 countries, were 94.9% of the population of the planet lives, and which produce 98.7% of the global GDP. The index is calculated as a weighted sum of scores of two groups of index: available resources and conditions for innovation (The Innovation Input) and achieved practical results of the innovation (The Innovation Output).
The top three rankings include Switzerland, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
