Sergey Minasyan: Russia maintains balance of forces in the region
A number of important events took place in the region over the past 2-3 weeks, with Russia-Azerbaijan relations being the most discussed topic, political scientist Sergey Minasyan told reporters in Yerevan.
In particular, according to him, the public and the political figures voiced bewilderment over the fact that our strategic ally arms Azerbaijan, which continues to threaten with the use of force against Armenia and Artsakh.
“I believe these emotional approaches are a little exaggerated. Russia does what it has been doing over the past 20 years. We see nothing new,” Minasyan said.
At the same time, the analyst said, Russia maintains balance of forces in the region because it does not need a headache – military operations.
Asked if, in light of the recent events, we can say that the threat of resumption of military operations has increased, Minasyan said, “In conceptual aspect, nothing has changed. The situation is the same as two years ago.”
