Georgian presidential election date changed to October 27
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has changed the date of holding the next presidential election and again appointed it for the 27th of October, the head of the Presidential Administration Andro Barnov announced after a meeting with representatives of local non-governmental organizations, the Voice of Russia reported.
Earlier it was announced that the election would be held on the 31st of October.
Over the last two days, a number of local non-governmental organisations and political parties urged the president to change the election date.
They stressed that the election should be held over a weekend, which is especially important for Georgian citizens living abroad.
