Moldovan ombudsman Aurelia Grigoriu denies lies of Azerbaijani media
"There were no crowds surrounding the hotel that I was staying in, and no one demanded my punishment," stated the infamous Ombudsman of Moldova Aurelia Grigoriu in an interview given to the Azerbaijani news agency "Vesti.az."
Earlier, the Azerbaijani mass media, and "1nyuz.az" agency in particular had spread misinformation that allegedly the hotel where Grigoriu was staying in Yerevan was besieged by the "vengeful crowd" of Armenians, and she allegedly was forced "to barricade herself from them.”
It is noteworthy that the Ombudsman of Moldova said that there were some "carbineers" around the hotel and according to her they were guarding her up.
In the interview with the Azerbaijani news agency Aurelia Grigoriu stated that some users in the social network Facebook demanded "reprisal", and she calls them "Armenians."
"The first threats and insults addressed to me I deleted because I did not want to read it all, and then just waved a hand," she said.
Aurelia Grigoriu stated that "Armenia as well as Azerbaijan is not an enemy country for Moldova." Speaking about her scandalous statements in the parliament of Armenia Ombudsman of Moldova said that she had got a record of her presentation which she wanted to publish. On the record, can be seen both what she said and the reaction of the audience, she noted.
Concerning the accusations of fulfilling Baku’s order, Grigoriu said that she would not comment on them, pointing out on her income statement.
On July 4 the ombudsman of Moldova Aurelia Grigoriu made a speech in the Parliament of Armenia. The speech was made in the frameworks of Pan-European Conference on “European standards of the rule of law and limits of the authorities’ discretion in the member states of the Council of Europe” which was being held in Yerevan. Aurelia Grigoriu, ombudsman of Moldova, called Armenia an "aggressor state", while representing a pro-Azerbaijani report on "Respect for human rights in areas of frozen conflicts.”
After the performance of the Moldovan Ombudsman the Azerbaijani media were full of statements that she was allegedly threatened by "crowds" of Armenians, and was allegedly barricaded in a hotel room. Azerbaijani media probably have extrapolated the likely behavior of Azerbaijani citizens in a similar situation on the citizens of Yerevan. After all, it was in Azerbaijan that the local nationalists were holding numerous pogroms of civilians, while the rioters themselves were proclaimed heroes in Baku.
