Armenian-Iranian business forum kicks off in Yerevan
Armenian-Iranian business forum kicked off today in Yerevan. The forum is organized by the Armenian Development Agency (ADA) and commerce and industry chambers of Tehran and Armenia.
In his opening address, Armenian Deputy Economy Minister Ara Petrosyan said that although Iran is the fifth trade partner of Armenia and Armenian-Iranian trade relations have a great potential, only a small part of that potential is used.
“This forum is the next step for expansion of bilateral economic ties and development of cooperation in new areas,” he said.
President of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIM) Yahya Al Eshagh, for his part, stressed that the current level of goods turnover between Iran and Armenia is insufficient and the existing potential is not used fully.
According to him, Armenia is an important country for Iran in respect of construction of hydropower plants and thermal power plants as well as agriculture, in particular, cooperation in cattle breeding.
“Our two countries are willing to further expand bilateral economic ties. We expect more active steps from our Armenian partners,” he said.
