Former Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian issued a statement in response to the statement of Armenian National Security Service on the termination of the criminal case against him. 

Oskanian’s statement said, in part, “The most important thing is that the two grave charges, those of money laundering and embezzlement of funds, which led to stripping me of parliamentary immunity, cannot be proved due to the lack of corpus delicti. So, the criminal case was closed in another way.

I must note that I did not give any confessional evidence. If follow the logic of NSS, it will turn out that, for example, one can embezzle budget funds, consider them as his own property, apply to the respective state bodies for paying taxes on that sum, and the criminal case will be closed.

From the very first day when criminal proceedings were filed against me, I have said that no cent of the sum allocated by Jon Huntsman to the Civilitas Foundation has been misused. Moreover, more than USD 100,000 has been added to that sum during my management of it.”
