Wheat crop will be unprecedented this year, says Agriculture Minister
A program of seed growing and development of wheat seed industry for 2013-18 was approved at a cabinet meeting today, the press service of the Armenian government reported.
The program envisages production of up to 5,500 tons of elite wheat seeds in 2018.
In his remarks, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said it is necessary to include in the decision a provision on laboratory testing of wheat.
In response, Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan said that seeds undergo laboratory testing.
He stressed that wheat crop will be unprecedented this year. “Climatic conditions are favorable for wheat crop this year,” he added.
