Law on Gender Equality to be amended
The RA Law on Gender Equality, which was adopted by the National Assembly on May 20, 2013, defining the notion of gender as “acquired and socially fixed behavior of persons of different sexes,” will be amended during the autumn session of parliament, Armenian Deputy Labor Minister Filaret Berikyan said during a discussion at Yerevan’s MediaCenter.
The Law on Gender, put into circulation by Orinats Yerkir Party in 2011, became a subject of active discussion at various platforms, including in social networks and forums.
“To avoid different interpretations, we plan to revise the formulations used in the law and present our observations to the government. We have already developed 2-3 variants of formulations,” said the Deputy Minister.
