‘‘Nazar is me’’… Ara Bekaryan
There is no war theme in the art of Armenian painter, Soviet popular graphic artist Ara Bekaryan, there are no soldiers in his paintings as well. Perhaps it is natural as he has been in war for a long time, seven years, that’s why he has chosen to draw peace and life during the rest of his life.
The artist has depicted everything he loved, simple things like blue sky, bright colors, children, and women. His heroes live in their homes, work in fields, bring up children. Calmness reigns in Ara Bekaryan’s paintings.
He has worked hard. He has also been engaged in book designing, has illustrated Derenik Demirchyan’s book “The Brave Nazar.” Seda Bekaryan, the artist’s daughter, recalls her father often used to repeat, “Nazar is me.”
