Wikileaks uploaded 400 gigabytes of documents, withholds «keys»
Wikileaks have uploaded 400 gigabytes of encrypted “insurance” data online and they say the encryption key will be leaked if anything happens to leading Wikileaks individuals. The data has been published in social media accounts of the whistleblower network.
Any one can now go online and download a massive amount of Wikileaks data, yet the organisation, known for unveiling US Government diplomatic cables and other secret information, keeps the keys to encryption as «insurance», in case something happens with its leaders – Julian Assange and Edward Snowden.
As revealed earlier, the organisation assisted a former CIA agent Edward Snowden to seek asylum in Russia, which caused great deal of crisis between the United States and Russia, resulting in cancellation of Obama-Putin meeting in the sidelines of G20 meeting, expected early September in Saint-Petersburg.
The «insurance» data leakage is believed to be caused by recent calls to drone Julian Assange. Michael Grunwald of Time magazine twitted in his microblog that he could not wait to write an article justifying a drone attack to eliminate Julian Assange. The Time leadership has reservedly apologised for the twitt, later on deleted.
