Azerbaijani Ambassador to Serbia accuses president’s administration of black PR campaign carried out against him
Former Attorney General, now Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina Eldar Hasanov stated that the recent publications of several media concerning his persona, are part of a pre-arranged campaign. According to the Azerbaijani news portal "Minval.az" with reference to Yeni Musavat newspaper, the ambassador assured that one of the powerful groups is blacking this PR campaign.
"These reports say Eldar Hasanov owns a large business in Russia, spends his time in that country, and allegedly he is a reserve player, who stays in shadow for a while, and tries to carry out a coup of Union of the billionaires' in Azerbaijan," the website notes.
According to the article, all this forced Eldar Hasanov to give an explanation to the leadership of Azerbaijan in connection with this and other allegations in his address.
According to the ambassador, among those backing this campaign there is a person holding a high position in the administration of President, as well as a number of officials, running important posts. He also stated that the campaign against him is a blow to the government’s prestige as a whole and that it will bring no dividends to the authorities on the eve of the presidential election, writes the portal.
"Not a single normal country will tolerate an ambassador within its country who is supporting secret ties with official structures of such a huge country as Russia, will not trust a diplomat who is involved in anti-government conspiracy," said Hasanov.
The Ambassador stressed that the campaign carried out against him casts a shadow on his work as an Azerbaijani diplomat, especially in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. He said that everything written about him was a lie, and that he was faithful to his State, a team in which he was presented as well as his president and had always supported Ilham Aliyev’s policy.
"Opponents admit that Eldar Hasanov once again managed to get away with it," writes "Minval.az."
On the eve of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Baku, Azerbaijani human rights activist Fatullayev published an article in which he argued that a plot against Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, was uncovered. According to the article in the conspiracy, allegedly organized by the head of the Presidential Administration of Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, were involved: one of the leaders of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia, the former Deputy Prime Minister Abbas Abbasov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Serbia Eldar Hasanov, a number of former senior officials and leaders.
