IA REX: Azerbaijani journalists try to conceal Aliyev's dependence on Putin from society
The political division of the Azerbaijani mass media into formal, informal, ruling and opposition is rather arbitrary, the Russian news agency REX writes. The article notes that the systematic inspection with the materials of the media creates a persistent sense that they are all managed by a single center, called the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan (and some directly from the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan).
"Another evidence of this is the fact that immediately after Putin's visit to Baku on August 13 the number of anti-Russian materials in the Azerbaijani media has fallen sharply, and every day they become fewer. It is possible that demonstration of awareness of distinct anti-Russian and anti-Putin publications in Azerbaijani media during the Russian president’s personal meeting with Aliyev played a big role," says the agency.
It also notes that in the Azerbaijani media articles, which are dedicated to this visit and the Russian-Azerbaijani relations in general, the desire of the authors to conceal from prying eyes what was going on during the meeting of the two presidents by all possible means was obvious. This was done in order not to let the society get the view that Ilham Aliyev depends on his Russian counterpart.
Thus, the Azerbaijani analytical site "Newtimes.az" assesses Putin’s "Caspian tour" as a "pragmatic cooperation with Azerbaijan on a new level," witnessing about the alleged "growing geopolitical influence in Azerbaijan", which allows the authors of the material, to claim seriously that "the real value of the visit deserves an adequate assessment in regional and global standards. "
"Surely, it is a common substitution of concepts, the purpose of which is the artificially inflated role of Azerbaijan in the readers’ eyes not only in the region but also "globally." Consequently, it would be better to write of the increase of "geopolitical importance of Azerbaijan" and not its "geopolitical influence," as such "influence" does not exist at all," the material reads.
The author emphasizes that in this respect the talks of "global increasing influence of Azerbaijan" cause nothing but a condescending smile over the general level of analytical thought of Azerbaijan, which is designed to directly serve the interests of the ruling regime and nothing more. It is known that the most docile analysts in Azerbaijan receive free apartments from authorities, for which, under normal market conditions, they can only pay by the blood of their own and other people.
Saleh Ustajli writes in Azerbaijani portal "Minval.az" about the "national inferiority complex" of his compatriot. "In author’s opinion, the inferiority complex "does not appear from scratches, this is a consequence of defeat in war or conquest of land by discriminated occupiers, etc. The formation of national inferiority complex had a fertile ground in Azerbaijan," writes the author of the material.
Saleh Ustajli is sure that the cause of all troubles of his compatriots lies in the ethnocide and repression policy pursued by the Bolsheviks. According to him, revision of the historic science of Azerbaijan should be the next step for the rehabilitation of the society.
