Xavi: Martino is right about Bale
Xavi Hernandez has backed Barcelona Coach Tata Martino on his view on Gareth Bale, and already turned attention to the Supercopa de Espana, Football Espana reported.
The Catalans ran out 1-0 winners on Sunday evening at La Rosaleda, in a close-fought result against hosts Malaga.
“The team is adjusting well to what the Coach wants. We have six points from six,” reflected Xavi, before commenting on Martino’s weekend words on Gareth Bale.
The Coach suggested that Madrid's preparedness to pay a world record amount showed a lack of respect to the current economic climate.
“Tata Martino was correct on his words on Bale, but that’s the market.”
Barca now begin preparations for Wednesday’s Supercopa de Espana second leg at home to Atletico Madrid, whose Coach and players have started debate already on how La Liga this term is once more between just two teams.
“It will cost us, they are a serious team that is very good defensively, but we want the Supercopa. I do not believe that the League will be just between two. There will be Atletico and others there.”
