Azadlig: Azerbaijani authorities ban media to cover the truth on Syrian events
Official Baku believes that the decision to attack Syria and overthrow Bashar al-Assad’s regime on the eve of presidential elections in Azerbaijan will influence the situation in the country. This is a major concern of the authorities.
According to the newspaper "Azadlig", Azerbaijani TV channels and pro-governmental media are instructed not to report on the real events that take place in Syria. Instead, they are ordered to prepare big reportages on the flops of the "Arab Spring", as well as reportages supporting Assad.
"The Azerbaijani authorities are actively working to for the public not to receive accurate information about the decisions made by the international forces about Assad. The authorities fear that otherwise it can serve a driving force for the discontented masses. However, the authorities do not take into account that the current level of information technologies it is impossible to keep the society in an information vacuum," the newspaper notes.
