Global Competitiveness Report: Armenia ranked 79th among 148 countries
According to the Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014, released by the World Economic Forum, Armenia is ranked 79th among 148 countries, marking an improvement by 3 points, Manuk Hergnyan, Chairman of the Economy and Values Research Center, told reporters in Yerevan, presenting the report.
According to Hergnyan, there is significant progress in technological preparedness, stability of macroeconomic environment and efficiency of commodity markets, while there are negative shifts in efficiency of labor market and higher education and raising professional skills.
Switzerland retains its 1st place position again this year and is followed by Singapore, Finland, Germany and U.S, according to the report.
In the CIS group (including Georgia), Ukraine went down 11 points compared to the previous year. Azerbaijan recorded the biggest progress (improvement by 7 points). Georgia improved its position by 5.
