‘Aram Khachaturian and the Modern World’ conference to take place in Yerevan
Today and tomorrow the Aram Khachaturian House-Museum will host an international conference titled ‘Aram Khachaturian and the Modern World’ dedicated to the 110th birth anniversary of the famous composer.
The conference will host musical critics and musicians from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Riga, Tbilisi and Stepanakert. Specialists from Yerevan State Conservatory, RA NAS Institute of Arts, Yerevan State Pedagogical University and Aram Khachaturian House-Museum will also take part in the conference.
Conference participants will deliver reports on Aram Khachaturian’s musical heritage. The funds of the House-Museum and the Museum’s educational programs will be presented at the conference as well as formats for making public the famous composer’s heritage will be discussed.
Aram Khachaturian (June 6 1903 – May 1, 1978) is a famous Armenian composer. Born in Tiflis to a poor Armenian family from Nakhichevan, Khachaturian moved to Moscow at the age of 19. He graduated from Moscow Conservatory in 1934. Khachaturian is famous for the Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia from his ballet Spartacus, and for the "Sabre Dance" from his ballet Gayane and the adagio from the same ballet, much used in films and TV series around the world.
