NBG: By 2024 level of Azerbaijan's oil and gas revenues will be almost twice less than public expenditure
If Azerbaijan’s governmental expenditures remain at present level, then the oil and gas revenues of the republic will not be enough to cover them in 2018, and by 2024, the governmental expenditures will exceed the oil and gas revenues by nearly two times. This is the forecast of the National Budget Group of Azerbaijan. The forecast and the corresponding timetable are published by Azerbaijani agency "Factheber."
The experts of the National Budget Group estimated Azerbaijan’s revenues to be received from the sale of oil and gas in "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" and "Shahldeniz" fields from 2012 to 2024.
According to the NBG schedule a significant difference will be noticed between budget expenditures and revenues from the gas sale and profitable oil since 2018.
"That’s why it’s easy to imagine the future of our youth. Is it possible for a country which has no income and has construction costs and roads repairs reaching billions, to reduce costs in 2024? Will it be possible in 2024 to tell the representatives of currently well-paid professions or the pensioners that they will be paid less due to the reduction of the state revenues?" wonders the agency.
On the chart compiled by NBG experts the horizontal red lines represent the government expenditures, and the red and blue thick vertical lines above the horizontal axis show the income from the sale of profitable oil from "ACG" and gas from "Shahldeniz" respectively.
